RECOMMENDED CAMERA:
Any modern IP, Wireless or USB camera works with SPEEDCAM. We recommend HD resolution or better (1920x1080 pixels). We recommend 30 fps (frames per second) or better. An electronic shutters is great if the camera shall capture license plates. It prevents image smearing for fast vehicles, similar to a DSLR shutter.

RTSP Camera
Some newer IP Cameras don't have an MJPEG or MJPG output, but instead use RTSP. You can set the RTSP stream URL directly in SPEEDCAM.

IP CAMERA
A wireless, Wifi or LAN IP camera works with SPEEDCAM. You can set the camera stream URL directly in SPEEDCAM.

USB CAMERA
Any USB camera that works on your computer will work with SPEEDCAM. Connect the camera before starting SPEEDCAM.

Bild
Welcome
SPEEDCAM allows the measuring and recording vehicle speeds and traffic volume of your street 24/7 automatically using a computer or laptop with a standard IP or USB webcam.
Before starting SPEEDCAM you need to follow three steps:
  • Connecting a camera
  • Sensor positioning and setup of main sensor parameters
  • Sensor sensitivity adjustment
Connecting a camera
  1. Click the [Settings] button on the toolbar;
  2. Go to the Camera tab;
  3. Choose and setup the camera.
Details in using IP cameras see below

Sensor positioning and setup of main sensor parameters
  1. Click the [Lanes&Masks] button on the toolbar;
  2. Move the sensors into the required position using the mouse;
  3. Specify the distance between Red and Green sensors in the Distance field in the tabLanes of panel Lanes and privacy masks;
  4. Specify the speed limit in the Speed limit field in the tab Lanes of panel Lanes and privacy masks;
  5. To add the sensor, click the [Add lane] button in the tab Lanes of panel Lanes and privacy masks;
  6. To remove the sensor, click the [Remove lane] button in the tab Lanes of panel Lanes and privacy masks;
  7. To complete the setup, click the [Done] button on the bottom of panel Lanes and privacy masks.
Positioning of the sensor is available only if the camera is connected (the image from the camera is displayed). The program doesn’t measure the speed during the camera setup process.

Sensor sensitivity adjustment
  1. If the Lanes and privacy masks panel is open, close it by clicking the [Done] button on the bottom of the Lanes and privacy masks panel;
  2. Click the [Sensors] button on the toolbar;
  3. Sensor signal graphs are displayed on the opened Sensors window. When the sensor triggers, its signal indicated on the graph, crossing the white line and located above the line.

  1. Ajdust the sensor sensitivity in the following way:
    • If there is no movement in the sensors zone, their signals (colored lines) should be below the activation level (white line);
    • If there is a moving object in the sensor zone, its signal should be above the activation level.
Review of reports
  1. Click the [Reports] button on the toolbar.
  2. In the file manager of your operation system, the folder of SPEEDCAM reports opens. Subfolder png contains the reports in png format. Subfolder pdf contains the reports in pdf format. The file reports.csv contains the comma separated values report.
You can choose types of saving reports, as well as a range of other options in the Reportstab of the Settings window.
The type of file manager depends on settings in the Operating System.
