SpeedCam 2014 PRO will feature multi-lane support for realtime analysis. It allows to track and count vehicles across multiple lanes in multiple directions. Additionally, SpeedCam 2014 offers unlimited privacy shape configuration (shown black), and court-approved triple-image-logging of speed violations. Further, you can record and playback videos to experiment with different setups.

If you believe there is little you can do about speeders in your neighborhood, you may be wrong. Apart from expensive radar or laser equipment, there is a low cost solution with speedcam which is as effective and easier to maintain. With an ordinary PC and webcam, you can measure vehicle velocity in your street 24/7. It also allows you to get text reports and photos of speeders to forward to your local police department. 

In the US, HOA homeowner associations have won the right to ticket speeders by law. Speedcam provides an automatic solution to measure vehicle speed via imaged-based analysis and provide traffic data and radar photos 24/7. It is also a very low cost solution that quickly pays for itsself, and HOA's have been using speedcam for several years. If you want to have a large-scale enforcement of speed, you may consider speedcam for your HOA instead of high-maintenance locally restricted solutions such as radar pistols or laser guns.

It is possible to use Speedcam with an IP or Wlan camera. This is sometimes easier to do than with a regular USB camera. You can position the wireless camera closer to the street, and many of these also have a night vision IR lamp that enhances measurement at night.

To use the IP camera with Speedcam, you have to install the free version of ManyCam. This allows you to convert an IP or wireless camera into a native USB camera that works with Speedcam to measure vehicle velocity.

The Phillips SPC webcams are unfortunately cheating with their frame rate. Instead of sending 90 fps, the internal chip interpolates the image and sends the same image 3 times to the PC. Therefore the SPC cameras fake a higher framerate than they actually have. We therefore do not recommend Philips SPC webcams any longer, but instead the Playstation Eye 3 with real 120 fps. It is also much more affordable at $17 on amazon.com.

To mesure vehicle speed within a few percent accuracy, we recommend a fast webcam with at least 30, better 60 or 90 fps / frames per second. But also marking the road with chalk at least once during setup is important to get the exact measurement distance. You simply have to draw a line 90 degrees from the sidewalk into the road. Then move 15 to 60 feet and make a second linke 90 degrees to the road. The lines should be parallel within a few inches. Then you can measure the exact distance between the lines. In the software, you simply have to place the start(blue) and end(red) sensors over both lines. Place the middle sensor(green) somewhere in in between. Now you can measure within 3% accuracy.

On computers with 1024x768 or lower resolution, it is sometimes not possible to accept the EULA licensing terms. An update is available to fix this problem. Please contact us and we will send you the update per email free of charge.
